A Lot of our history has been stolen and hidden from us.This is also True when it comes to music or anything created by Black People and admired by other cultures for that matter. Hip-Hop is not exempt from this either as many companies only promote the negative imagery and paint a terrible picture of artist who may just be conveying a message about the harsh realities of their surroundings. Some of These people labeled as “Thugs” are really bright and intelligent. They can see and identify with the racism and discrimination that our people face because they’ve experienced it. They are Bright enough to see when a White company wants to capitalize off of exploiting a culture created and dominated by Black People. Some of them protect their integrity and have pride. You have the power to decipher the bullshit and when someone is saying something to you that’s Real, whether it is over a beat or face to face you can feel when it is Authentic. These White companies use negativity to fool and control your opinions. They know that Music can be powerful, so if it can be harmful, than that means it has the power to benefit and build as well.
